TransFoil Aerodynamic Truck Trailer Skirts Save Diesel Fuel

Georgia based manufacturer TransFoil Systems reports seeing a recent spike in demand for Aerodynamic Trailer Side Skirts. These side skirts, also called aerodynamic skirts, wind skirts, or belly fairings, are engineered to reduce the amount of wind turbulence underneath semi trailers, refrigerated trailers, and container chassis. The results have been so pronounced, says Lucas Stewart, president & CEO of TransFoil Systems, that even he has been surprised. “We have been receiving testimonials from TransFoil customers who report saving as much ten or eleven percent on their overall diesel fuel consumption. And these fleet operators are very sophisticated. They are arriving at these calculations using their trucks’ on-board computers. We knew that our patent-pending design was good, but we didn’t expect it to be quite that good.”

Mr. Stewart goes on to observe that he was expecting typical savings of 5-7%, which is par for the course for aerodynamic trailer side skirts, and he was pleasantly surprised when the latest round of design improvements added significantly to those results.

Aerodynamic trailer skirts are bolted onto the underside of semi trailer dry vans, refrigerated vans (reefers), and container chassis using a simple bolt-on system that can be easily removed without any damage or modification to the trailer. This is important for companies that lease their trailers, as they are typically not permitted to make permanent modifications to the equipment without incurring substantial penalties.

2. IMPORTS: Many Americans believe most of their paychecks go to buying goods and services originating in China. But according to reports from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Federal Reserve, the actual number is less than three percent (2.7% worth of imports measured against America’s $ 14.5 trillion economy). In fact nearly 86% of American consumer spending is on products made in the USA.

According to the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR), exports to China neared $ 100 billion last year, an increase of nearly a third over the previous year.

Mr. Perl is not alone in his positive attitude toward the Chinese. Erin Burnett, now the anchor of CNN’s “OutFront,” pointed out as far back as 2007 that “China is our greatest friend right now. They’re keeping prices low, and they’re keeping prices for mortgages low too.” She made the comment on “Hardball” when she was an anchor of CNBC’s “Street Signs.”

HCPs Prefer More Patient Involvement

HCPs were eager to respond to surveys developed by their peers and offer insight into their working lives. Some of the highlights include:

    HCPs revealed that, despite lower reimbursement rates, higher patient volumes and longer hours, 2 out of 3 would choose the exact same career path again.

    96% HCPs would like to have their patients at least somewhat more involved in healthcare decisions.

    81% of HCPs report that Rx samples and 78% report that visits from pharmaceutical representatives at least somewhat make a difference in prescribing patterns.

    Despite advances in electronic medical records, smart phone apps, and online patient appointment setting, 60% of HCPs report that they still spend more than 10% of their time doing paperwork, insurance reviews, and/or formulary issues.

    As the adoption of EMR continues to increase, HCPs opinions seem to be split as to their value with 46% saying that EMR and computers have become a distraction in the exam room.

    The controversy over healthcare reform legislation and national health insurance has left 61% of HCPs feeling unrepresented.

In seeking to provide middle market companies with critical information to benchmark best practices in executive compensation, The CFO Alliance- a peer-to-peer community – will deploy its Mid-Market Executive and Board Compensation Survey (the Survey) to its membership of over 2,800 CFOs and other senior financial leaders around the country at the beginning of next month.

Understanding base pay, short- and long-term incentives, and other executive pay practices allows organizations to align business strategy with reward systems that drive business results. Participants in the Survey will enjoy numerous benefits including ongoing access to executive compensation data and practice information specific to industry, position, location and organization size as well as the ability to compare executive compensation practices to your peers and competitors.

“The opportunities are extensive for those who take part in this survey, which aims to fill a vast information void for middle market finance executives,” says Nick Araco, Jr., CEO and president, The CFO Alliance. “High quality, reliable executive and board compensation data is simply not in abundance for middle market organizations. Furthermore, even if these underserved organizations can find studies on compensation, the underlying data is based on the financial statements (proxies) of publically-traded companies, or published data from large corporations. The Survey is an ongoing multi-part study, which is being conducted exclusively among private and public middle market organizations covering approximately 20 “Top Executive” positions. Data will be collected for base salaries, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, perquisites, deferred compensation, pay practices, and board of director compensation. Additionally, the Survey will collect detailed financial management data, CFO attitudes, and position demographics.
